When we truly listen, we give something full attention and can mindfully receive. We can listen to people, environments, and objects––and ourselves. Use this brief Deep Listening Meditation to find pause and presence. Now, get still and close your eyes…
- Take a deep breath in through the nose and out the mouth. What sounds surround you? What dialogue is within you?
- Inhale through the nose, down the throat, and into the belly. Note the space that lingers before the exhale.
- Exhale from the belly, up the chest, and out of the nose. Note the space that lingers before the inhale. Inhale again…
- Check in with your surroundings. What sounds do you take in? Greet them with a smile.
- Repeat; always noticing anew the space between breaths while befriending the sounds around you.
