Yoga that's slightly sweeter & stronger
Sun 3/7 is Daylight Savings (Flow) Time
The calendar is starting to come around to some sunshine! March is somehow already here and coming up on Sunday 3/7 it’ll be Daylight Savings Time. We’re recognizing how the clock leaps and the sweet phrase that we’ll “spring forward” with a special class taught by Chloe at 2:45pm that Sunday the 7th. Use us as a good excuse to double check the clocks.

Welcome to Student Spotlights 🔎 Lauren Mechling
We’ve decided in 2026 that it’s time we use our platform to celebrate our beautiful community. We hope to draw our bonds closer together by understanding who you are and what brings you to the mat.
This week we kick off with lifelong Brooklynite Lauren Mechling:
Tell us about yourself?
”I’m from Brooklyn Heights and I’ve lived in Gowanus, a 17 minute run from the studio, for the past 15 years. Some things I love: baking from my mom’s old Silver Palate cookbook, taking long walks with my audiobooks (recently: Lonesome Dove, Lost Lambs), texting with my friends early in the morning.
What have you been up to lately?
I just started as executive editor of The Berkshire Eagle’s lifestyle magazine. Meanwhile, I still write about pretty much anything other than politics for pretty much anybody who will have me. I’m currently working on one story about murder mysteries and another one about the fashion scene in the mid 90s.
What is your relationship with yoga?
I come to the studio more days than not, and my midday classes give much-needed shape to my chaotic days. I’m always balancing a bunch of projects at the same time, and yoga cuts through the noise in my head. When people ask me if I’d like to get coffee, I generally counter with a Tangerine field trip.
I’ve been practicing yoga since long enough that I should be able to touch my toes. Luckily, yoga has helped me become pretty okay with the things that my body can and cannot do. The Tangerine instructors’ playlists don’t hurt. If you see me in the studio, please say hi! I mean it, I always wonder who my lovely fellow Tangerinos are.
Connect with Lauren via laurenmechling.com or with a warm hello in studio.

Congratulations Hannah!
Longtime studio icon Hannah McNew has done so much with Tangerine Yoga: working the desk, overseeing the space as Front Desk Lead, managing the Teaching Assistant program, teaching her own classes. With Emma’s departure, she is generously assuming a new mantle: as our studio Manager. We are so grateful that Hannah is stepping up into this role to help ensure that Tangerine continues to thrive and grow. Thank you Hannah!
Her first responsibility? Dropping some fresh staff picks.
🔮 Hannah’s source for witching supplies? Namaste Bookshop by Union Square Park.
⚰️ She’s ready to dish about Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire (the AMC series, not the book) cause everyone needs to be prepared before Season 3 drops in June.
🎹 Speaking of dish-Mimi’s Restaurant & Piano Bar-need she say more?
