The Place
Trade the city for the coast
Cocoon Portugal, named one of the best farm stays in Europe by Condé Nast Traveller
For one week in 2027, we are taking Tangerine on the road. Join Abby and Laura at Cocoon Portugal, a 275-acre farm tucked along the Alentejo coast near the fishing village of Zambujeira do Mar, for a week of daily yoga, shared meals, and beach time.
The farm carries a peaceful simplicity, with rolling fields, quiet corners to rest, and baby goats and peacocks roaming freely across the grounds. Twelve minutes down the road, Praia do Cavaleiro, one of the area's hidden gems, is perfect for swimming and sunbathing, with world-class trails along the famed Costa Vicentina.
Whether you practice with us every week or you have been meaning to get back on the mat, every practice, meal, and outing is an invitation, not an obligation. Sleep through morning yoga, skip afternoon practice for a hammock nap, or come to every class. The week is yours to shape around whatever helps you unwind.
The Rhythm
A typical day
-
Morning
Wake slowly with Cocoon's strong house-roasted coffee, then meet Abby for a Katonah-inspired vinyasa practice in the indoor or outdoor shala. High-quality mats and props are provided, so there's no need to bring your own.
-
Midday
After a farm-to-table breakfast, the middle of the day is yours to enjoy: head to the beach, read in a hammock, or explore the grounds.
-
Afternoon
Some afternoons will include optional group adventures, like hiking or a swimming hole excursion. On another day, Abby will lead a tarot workshop for anyone who wants to join.
-
Evening
We'll close many days with a more restorative practice, then gather for dinner, dessert, and slow evenings under the stars. On our final night, we'll celebrate the summer solstice with something special from Abby.
The Food
Around the table
All meals are included, and the food is farm-to-table: primarily vegetarian, with some chicken and fish. Breakfast might be baked eggs, fresh bread, and cheeses, and lunches are long and unhurried, made with ingredients from the farm.
Cocoon's strong house-roasted coffee, tea, and spring water are available all day, and there's dessert every night. On our final night, we'll close the week with a pizza dinner and a spritz bar.

Your Guides
Meet your retreat leaders
Abigail Stevenson
Lead Retreat Teacher · Katonah-Inspired Vinyasa & Restorative Yoga
Abigail believes in the power of yoga to turn garbage into gold. She has spent over a decade teaching across New York City, weaving Katonah yoga theory, breath, alignment, and a whole lot of laughter into creatively sequenced classes.
Nurturing and playful, she helps students feel more at home in their bodies. Outside the studio she supports growing families as a birth and postpartum doula.
Laura Adelson
Co-Owner of Tangerine · Retreat Host · Yoga Therapist
Laura co-owns Tangerine with her husband Ian, who will also be joining the retreat. Around the studio, you might see her wearing tie dye, hanging with her orange dog Iris, or chasing after her toddler, Cillian.
Back at Tangerine, Laura mostly works one-on-one with private yoga therapy clients, but on this retreat she'll be there as a host, fellow traveler, and very enthusiastic Abigail-retreat attendee. This will be her second retreat with Abigail, and she knows first-hand how amazing your body can feel after a week of daily yoga with her.
Laura and Abigail chose Portugal because they wanted a retreat with room to rest, kick back, and unwind. Laura is especially excited to spend time with the kind of wonderful people Abigail's retreats tend to attract: people who are just as happy to connect over a long meal as they are to read quietly in nearby hammocks.

Good to Know
A few common questions
Do I need to be an experienced yogi?
Not at all. The week is built for every level, from people who practice with us weekly to people who have been meaning to get back on the mat. Abby offers modifications throughout, and you set your own pace.
Do I have to come to every yoga class?
Nope. Everything is optional. Come to every practice, sleep through morning yoga, skip afternoon class for a hammock nap, or follow whatever helps you unwind.
Can I come solo?
Yes. Many people come on retreat solo, and the week is designed around connection without pressure. Shared rooms are a lovely way to meet someone, and we have a limited number of single rooms available if you prefer your own space.
Can I come with a friend or partner?
Absolutely. Doubles are available with either a private bath or a bath shared with one other room. We also have triple rooms if you are coming with a small group of friends.
How do I get there?
Most guests will fly into Lisbon. Cocoon Portugal is about a 2-hour drive from Lisbon, and we will help coordinate carpools among retreat guests. We will also want cars on site during the retreat, since the beach is about a 12-minute drive from Cocoon.
What does it cost?
Early bird pricing starts at $2,800 per person for a shared room. Double rooms with private baths are $3,150 per person, and single rooms with private baths are $3,900. Single rooms are limited - we only have 4 available. Early bird pricing is available through October 31, 2026.
How do I hold my spot?
A $500 non-refundable deposit reserves your spot. Registration closes May 15, 2027, if not sold out sooner.
